Billings, MT
As we had modified our schedule by adding Bozeman to the plans, the trip to Billings was short; therefore, we took the back roads again.
On-the-road photos
We came across Prong Horn Antelopes, where Karen had to stomp on the brakes to let them cross the road. The video below of them is safely getting over the fence.
We did a U-turn as Karen thought she saw something. She did see a Coyote that ran away, so there was no picture. We also came across something that looked like meerkats from the rear as it stood up on the center line with a car going either side of it. This one was brave as its friend ran across the road. We are unsure what they were, but there are no pictures to show, again.

We came across an old town, Harlowton, MT, established in 1900. This town used to be a bustling town with large grain silos and once had a railway line taking the grain away. We took some photos of the old town as it is today. It’s so sad that these old towns fall by the wayside.

We arrived in Billings Sunday. Billings used to be very busy but has a lot of vacant old properties. If anyone were watching security cameras, they would have thought it strange why this red Chrysler 300 went around the block so many times! Doubletree needs to do something about its signage point to the hotel. There was none!
It has a larger rail distribution with many freight trains going past our window though they did not sign their horns. 😄 On the subject of trains, we witnessed something that we have not seen before, Boeing 737 fuselages on rail cars. Apparently, Boeing does not make the fuselages. They are made in Wichita, Kansas, by Spirit AeroSystems and are transported by rail to the Boeing plant in Renton, Washington.

Little Bighorn Battlefield
On Monday, our travels to Deadwood, South Dakota, took us past Little Bighorn Battlefield National Monument where Lt. Col. George A. Custer and the U.S. 7th Calvary made their last stand. It’s interesting that this action took place 100 years before Karen and I met, on June 25 and 26 of 1876.
You might wonder what or where the guitar images fit into this trip. We had dinner at JACOBS BREWHOUSE & GROCER in Deadwood. The guitars are from several well-known groups and bands like Reo Speed Wagon, Nazareth, Styx, America, and Gary Puckett and the Union Gap. I had the Duck Loli-Pops. We can highly recommend this establishment.

Mt Rushmore
Tuesday was a visit to Mt Rushmore National Park to meet the four Majestic figures of George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln. We have been so lucky with the weather again. It did cloud up later in the day and shower but that is OK. The next project in the afternoon was to do laundry!
The last image was inside STEERFISH STEAK & SMOKE in Spearfish, SD. We have been staying away from chain restaurants to have some of the local food and of course, beers. This is another restaurant we like.

Tomorrow, Wednesday
Tomorrow is a long five-hour drive right across South Dakota state to Sioux Falls. We are there for a couple of quiet days, and we were upgraded to a Suite. Nice.
