On the road for a few days
We left Gig Harbor on Wednesday, today being Friday we are in Bozeman, Montana, positioned to visit Old Faithful in Yellowstone National Park tomorrow.
Wednesday (Gig Harbor to Spokane both in Washington State) and Thursday (Spokane, WA to Butte, Montana) were long driving days. We did have the odd stop off of the highway for the odd side trip for photographs and to stretch the legs.
Today, Friday, was a short trip from Butte, MT to Bozeman, MT. We kept off the interstates and used local roads, including trying to find a trestle bridge. The old railroad and trestle is now a park trail.
We have taken some videos that I need to splice together and will update this post soon.

Spokane had a nice park close to the waterfalls called, what else, Riverside Park. We did unfortunately, see a lot of homeless tent city’s but here are the nice, positive photos around the city and on the way back to the hotel.

Post Falls and Butte
While driving from Spokane to Butte we stopped at Post Falls. This link will give you the history of Frederick Post and the falls.
There are forest fires in Canada that are effecting Montana. You can see the smog in the last two photographs including the one that is a car wash and the mountain after.

Trunk Space
For those of you that have wondered how we are dealing with the following:
- Clothing – We still have some clothes from the Panama Canal cruise and will be needed in Myrtle Beach in a few weeks
- Clothing – Variable temperatures from hot Las Vegas to the mountains at 9K feet in Utah.
- Shoes to cover the above
- Pills and potions
- Bathroom toiletries
- The binder
- Electronics
- Coffee & filters, plastic plates, snacks etc.
- Cereal
- The Cooler – milk, creamer, cheese and chocolate snacks
This is what the trunk looks like, Everything has its place.
And here is the video
The shear power of the water is amazing.
Please, do not ask us about the bike on the concrete pillar in the river. We have no idea why it is there!
Traveling to Bozeman
I had never heard of Bozeman before we booked this two day stay as it is close to Yellowstone National Park. It is a growing city with lots of suburbs being built. There are a few photos of a trestle bridge from an old railway that is now part of a trail. The rest are of the old western town where we had dinner at Coopers, Whiskey Bar and Grill in main street and had nice salads and something called Popovers. Popovers look similar to Yorkshire puddings but are heavier and have spices. Something new for us.

Tomorrow
We are going to visit Old Faithful. The smog is supposed to be better and since we are traveling south, we hop that will help.
You certainly are getting around and seem to be having a ball. Enjoy
We are having a blast John. Yellowstone Park photos going up soon.
Looks like you’re having a great time and seeing A LOT of the country. See you in a few weeks!
Definitely, a LOT. Instead of using the interstate today we took to an alternate route which added about an hour, saw more of the country, and legally, still doing 70MPH. It’s 80 in the interstates for most of the time out here as I am sure you know. According to Marc, some prong horn antelopes crossed our path, literally as Karen had to stop.
