We Love Travel
I have been to China twice, and we have been to Australia. Karen and I have been fortunate with how much we have traveled since we have been together. I will find a place on this blog somewhere to put a few older photos and watch for updates. The discussion about Australia went something like this….
“Karen, work wants me to go to Sydney for two weeks” “OK, I’m coming”.
Fun Fact
I have been using Tripit.com since 2017 to organize my business travel. Later on, I started to incorporate personal travel. And no, we are not affiliated with Tripit, but it sounds like a blogging opportunity. I was playing with the app the other day and came up with this fun fact.
I have traveled 317,636 miles and circled the globe 12.8 times before we started our Go-Go travel. I am wondering if I can double this number. That would be a notable goal to achieve and fun to try.
I wish I had paid more detail to the trips and miles before 2017. This sounds like a spreadsheet project with a glass of wine in my hand!
A new way of life..
You have probably heard the story of people living on cruise ships. That is great; however, some have a second home or condo to go home to or swap out their laundry! We have to look at this differently as we could not afford to travel and have an apartment. We returned from our 2022 Europe trip and made the decision to look at the numbers. We opened a spreadsheet and plummed in the numbers for all our current outgoings, then looked at the estimated costs. If we reduce our outgoings, rent, car, insurance, cable tv, utilities, etc., we can do this….
Our financial consultant had a heart attack when we told her. We will probably have to hit some of our reserves later, but that’s OK. We have already told the kids not to expect an inheritance as we will enjoy spending it traveling.
As we mentioned in the About us, we have sold or donated everything, and the rest will go into a 10′ x 10′ storage unit soon.
We are ready to start our Go-Go years, beginning February 2023. We will blog about our travel until we find somewhere to put down roots again. Karen says it has to be somewhere warm, which means somewhere that does not have winter.
The timeline page gives an overview of the locations we will visit but is subject to change. There are a few dates where we are looking for a roof over our head, but that is ok. Suggestions for November and December 2023 are welcome on the contact page.
Awesome!! Can’t wait to see your adventures!!!
I still plan to catch up with you somewhere.
Looking forward to it! Just let us know where and when!
What a fantastic adventure! I loved too reading the About Us page. Good luck and cheers!
Thanks Victor. We are excited.
Congratulations! Your trip sounds fantastic. Consider visiting us in Los Alamos New Mexico on your West to East trip. We have a spare room and there are numerous day trips from our house: Santa Fe, Valle Caldera National Preserve, Bandelier National Monument, Taos, and Ghost Ranch. Nando and Deb stayed with us for a week or more and loved it. Let me know, my number is still the same. You can also PM me on Facebook.
Cheers
